They finally return home. But they will be betrayed…

Warning: This page contains spoilers for Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius and Sunrider Academy.

The Story So Far…

Following the devastating war between the democratic Solar Alliance and the tyrannical New Empire, the galaxy was split into two zones separated by the Neutral Rim, a buffer between the two states.

Weakened by war, the New Empire collapsed from within in the Compact Revolution. A figure known only as VENICZAR ARCADIUS led the people against their Imperial oppressors. Following the New Empire’s fall, Arcadius mysteriously vanished from public view.

Soon after, another entity claiming to be Arcadius returned and declared the formation of PACT. With the vast production base of the former New Empire, PACT invaded the Neutral Rim with the intent of striking the Solar Alliance.

Arcadius sought the hand of the Ryuvian princess for reasons unknown, but was thwarted by Captain Shields of the Cera Space Force.

He was further thwarted at the battle of Far Port, when Cullen’s blunder lead to the destruction of the PACT invasion fleet by a much smaller Alliance vanguard fleet.

What was envisioned by PACT leaders as a glorious invasion into the heart of Alliance space instead became a bloody foreign campaign fought in the undeveloped Neutral Rim.

With the Alliance Fleet approaching PACT space and their initial military goals now in tatters, VENICZAR FONTANA betrayed Arcadius in the Battle of Helion and took control of PACT.

Now unmasked, the truth of the entity claiming to be Veniczar Arcadius came to light…

Asaga di Ryuvia

cv: Sakura Matsuri 咲良まつり

The self styled Sharr of Ryuvia, and officially it’s Queen.

She was formerly arranged by her father to wed Veniczar Arcadius in exchange for a non-aggression treaty from PACT. The revelation that Arcadius was nothing but a persona controlled by an organization of super humans called the prototypes has obscured what the prototypes sought from the former Ryuvian princess’ hand. Whatever they sought, the prototypes believe Asaga wields a destiny behind her imagination.

Recently, she manifested incredible super powers in times of peril due to mutated engineered genes from the ancient Ryuvian era. Her awakening continues to become more and more powerful with each use. But her powers also bring a different personality compared to her usual cheerful and energetic self…

She has an unrequited love with the captain. However, the captain’s growing relationship with her best friend Chigara has prevented Asaga from pursuing her interest.

She now looks at Chigara with distant eyes…

Icari Isidolde

cv: Haruna Ren 榛名れん

A mercenary who really has no interest in the captain at all. Really, why would you think she’d be interested in a loser like him.

She grew up in the rough parts of the galaxy and has a pragmatic approach to life. On the exterior, she is a confident and cold mercenary who can complete kill contracts without a second thought, but internally, she holds occasional regrets between jobs.

She has a rivalry turned begrudging friendship with the Alliance liaison officer Kryska Stares. While Icari correctly suspected Kryska’s divided loyalty upon Kryska’s first arrival to the ship, the two have since learned to trust each other.

Now, the two approach the PACT frontier as part of the Alliance Combined Fleet to liberate Cera…

Ava Crescentia

cv: Kisumi Aoi 木住葵

The Sunrider’s executive officer.

Strict, professional, and cold, Commander Ava Crescentia runs the ship with military discipline, despite the crew’s de facto position as privateers. She is a master organizer and can cut through paperwork and PACT hostiles alike.

Her inflexibility to the rules makes her unpopular with the crew, but she is the commander the Sunrider needs. She may confide to the captain that she is a poor leader, but in reality, she is the one truly in charge of the ship’s day to day operations.

She shared a relationship with the captain in her childhood, but has long abandoned any desire to rekindle their romance. Completely devoted to the safety of the crew and the liberation of Cera, she is willing to do whatever it takes to win the war.

Chigara Ashada

cv: Yomogi Kasumi 蓬かすみ

The Sunrider’s chief engineer.

She is a seemingly genius scientist who can perform feats of engineering which would be considered impossible by most standards. However, Chigara only nervously laughs and waves away any accolade whenever she pulls off a scientific miracle.

Her home world was one of the scientific centers of the galaxy, but was completely destroyed by a micro black hole in the Diode Catastrophe. The catastrophe was believed by experts to be an scientific experiment gone wrong, but Chigara maintains it was the work of sabotage.

Now, PACT has constructed a weapon identical to the one which destroyed Diode under the leadership of the prototypes. How the plans to construct such a device fell into PACT’s hands when Chigara was the sole survivor of the Diode Catastrophe remains a mystery…

Now unmasked, the prototypes look unmistakably similar to Chigara…

She is the one who is closest to the captain, and his infallible emotional support in the war.

Claude Triello

cv: Murasaki Nina 村崎にな

The Sunrider’s acting medical officer.

Wanted on several planets for medical malpractice and sexual harassment, she appears to be nothing more than a ditsy pervert seeking to get into the pants of the next handsome space captain. However, she stayed on board the Sunrider after the captain discovered her sordid past, for reasons unknown. She is now the ship’s doctor after being accredited again through probably shady means.

She appeared from seemingly out of nowhere and directed the Sunrider to one of the biggest discoveries of lost technology in the galaxy’s history. Despite being capable of missing the broadside of a battleship due to her weakness to motion sickness, Claude possesses a military grade ryder with an unconventional electronic warfare suite. Where she acquired such a ryder remains a mystery. The captain has long suspected Claude of having ulterior motives for joining the ship, but she quickly waves away his attention with a strategic grope to his bottom.

Could she be a lot more than she claims? Or maybe she’s just a pervert…

Kryska Stares

cv: Yumeno Usagi 夢野うさぎ

The Alliance liaison officer on board the Sunrider.

Ostensibly there to coordinate efforts between the Sunrider and the Alliance Combined Fleet, Lieutenant Kryska Stares was viewed by the Sunrider’s crew as nothing more than an Alliance spy. Despite poor first impressions, Kryska gradually won the ship’s acceptance.

She has both boyish looks and personality, and is patriotic to the Alliance to the point of naivety. She views the Alliance Navy as a force of good in the galaxy and believes it can bring progress and democracy to the less civilized parts of the galaxy. She is proud of her rank in the Alliance and is a disciplined soldier who obeys military command without question.

In the chaos following Veniczar Fontana’s betrayal, the PACT fleet hastily broke apart and scattered. Now the Alliance fleet surrounds an abandoned Paradox Core and all its secrets…

Sola di Ryuvia

cv: Nakase Hina なかせひな

A cold and silent sniper from the ancient Ryuvian era.

She comes from a timeline two thousand years prior to the Neutral Rim War, when the Holy Ryuvian Empire stretched across the galaxy and the Infinite Emperor reigned from the star palace as a god. However, her time was one of strife, as her father, the crown prince, assassinated the Infinite Emperor, and placed the blame upon his half brother, Crow Harbor. The assassination sparked a civil war which threatened to destroy the Empire, unless drastic measures were taken. Sola, a child born from the former crown prince’s affair with a peasant girl, was kidnapped and impressed into service on board the Holy Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Sharr’Lac.

In the decisive battle against Crow Harbor’s fleet, the Sharr’Lac’s ultimate weapon was activated at the supposed cost of Sola’s life, and destroyed everything within a half light year radius.

Somehow, Sola then woke up two thousand years in the future and shortly afterwards joined the Sunrider’s crew.

A mirror image version of Sola appeared in an alternate universe where the Diode Catastrophe was averted. Through the efforts of the alternate universe’s Chigara and Shields, it was discovered that Sola was flung through time and duplicated across numerous universes.

The trio destroyed the time device responsible for Sola’s temporal translocation, saving the life of Sola’s mirror image, as well as any other Solas which may have been scattered across space time.

The original Sola on board the Sunrider briefly met the alternate universe’s Shields while they were connected by the time device, where she learned what had transpired.

However, just who used the time device, and for what purpose, remains unknown…
